CIO Advisory (cont'd.)
Information Technology is a unique discipline and remains uncomfortably foreign to many business executives. The issues are often complex and have significant financial implications. IT is highly integrated with business processes, and has major impacts on business success. Internally, the CIO often has no senior, impartial or technically savvy resource to turn to for advice and counsel.
CIO roundtables exist, but are frequently group sessions that are not appropriate forums to deal with a company’s specific IT strategy issues. The topics covered are typically general in nature. Such sessions are not conducive to allowing CIOs to divulge any of their real issues—especially in situations where they might find themselves in a competitive environment.
Transition Partners' Advisory:
- Is staffed with senior IT consultants who are solutions oriented and have deep line-management experience (and have successfully dealt with many of these same issues in their own careers as
CIOs).
- Is available to you on your schedule.
- Is provided in a confidential, collaborative and non-threatening manner.
- Is truly “on demand” expertise: when and where you want it, with no obligation for any long-term commitment.
Transition Partners is uniquely qualified to provide CIO advisory services with our unparalleled staff of CIOs and VPs from Fortune 100 companies. Transition Partners does not have any junior staff. We are completely independent of vendor biases: management consulting is our only business.
Case Study
Transition Partners’ CIO Advisory services assisted a major business and consumer software development company to achieve their objectives.
The transition from developing and marketing shrink-wrap software to providing web-based services was a new frontier for the business units of this company. It also required the creation of a new service delivery organization. Transition Partners, in collaboration with the CIO, helped assess the existing organizations, technologies and processes and recommended a strategy to create standard disciplines and processes. Transition Partners also stepped up to take ownership for creating a new Operations organization to deliver the new services. Our leadership allowed the company’s CIO to focus on the many day-to-day, run-the-business responsibilities. He trusted the experienced Transition Partners consultants to manage this transition in accordance with the company’s vision and provide the appropriate level of feedback and guidance to make this initiative a success.
